What is a postpartum lactation consultation and how can it help?
In the early days:
The first few days and weeks at home with your newborn baby are an exciting time of transition. You will be getting to know your new baby and learning about yourself as a parent. It is an adjustment period in your parenthood journey. Sometimes an extra hand can make the transition smoother and help you navigate through any feeding difficulties, so you can more fully enjoy this special time with your new baby.
Breastfeeding is a relationship and a learned art. It’s normal to have lots of questions and to need support as you and your baby learn together. During a postpartum lactation consultation, we will work together to find what works best for you and your baby so you can move forward in your breastfeeding journey in comfort and with growing confidence.
As your baby grows:
Moving on to the next chapter in your breastfeeding journey, such as introducing solids for your baby or transitioning back to work for you, means navigating a new rhythm together. There’s a lot of information out there. It can be overwhelming sifting through it all on your own. We can work together to create a plan that will work for your individual situation and goals so you and your baby can gently adapt to your new rhythm with supportive guidance at every step.
