As a nurse clinician, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and DONA International certified birth doula, I have the advantage of seeing pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding from many different perspectives.

Just like every birth is unique, every breastfeeding journey is unique. I integrate my knowledge as a nurse, a doula and a lactation consultant (IBCLC) to provide you with evidence-based information and individualized recommendations, as well as skilled support based on advanced training and professional experience, all while promoting a holistic, non-judgmental environment where your choices and wisdom are always valued.

People often ask me in which role I started my professional journey. My first love is nursing. As I was finishing nursing school, I knew that I wanted to work on the birthing unit where, as a student, I had witnessed the power of birth and the indescribable moment when parents look into their baby’s eyes for the first time. To provide the best quality holistic care to these families, I wanted to add to my labour support skillset. Little did I know at the time, attending the DONA International birth doula training would lead me to becoming a fully certified doula who would have the honour of accompanying many amazing families as they welcomed their new babies into their growing families. I have since been a passionate doula advocate. In 2022, I completed my master’s degree in nursing, for which my thesis thesis research focused on exploring collaboration between nurses and doulas in the hospital setting.

I love new challenges and expanding my skills to better support growing families. To add to my repertoire and help families with more complex breastfeeding challenges, I pursued further lactation training and became an international board certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) in 2020.

So what's next in 2023? There's always more to learn! At the moment, I'm excited to be delving into the published research on lactation and mothers' experiences of lactation after breast surgeries (reduction, implants, partial mastectomy). I'll soon be offer a tailored class for mothers wishing to breastfeed and have a history of breast reduction, augmentation and other breast surgeries.
